A few months ago I shared a quotes post and it’s one of my most popular posts on Pinterest, so I’m guessing lots of you like quotes too!
I’m a big believer in the power of well-placed to lift the spirits and soothe the soul.
Quotes are also a great way of sharing everyday wisdom. Wisdom we’re often too busy, and too caught up in the day-to-day to remember. Just like self-care.
All mums, but especially single mums, need to make self-care a top priority. We’re no good to anyone else, including our kids, if we don’t.
It might feel indulgent to take a day off to go to a spa with a friend – I did this last week! – but it isn’t. It’s essential self-care that enables you to be a better you, instead of a frazzled, exhausted, mess.
So, I suggest picking your favourite amongst these and putting it up somewhere you’ll see it every day. Hopefully it’ll remind you to take a few moments – or perhaps a whole day – for yourself.
My favourite self-care quotes
1 | “Ask yourself what you need every day and make sure you get it.”
– Jane Travis
2 | “When you say “yes” to others make sure you are not saying “no” to yourself.”
– Paulo Coehlo
3 | “You can’t pour from an empty cup. Take care of yourself first.”
4 | “I’ve never seen any life transformation that didn’t begin with the person in question finally getting tired of their own bullshit.”
– Elizabeth Gilbert
5 | “Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you .”
– Anne Lamott
6 | “Embrace the glorious mess that you are.”
– Elizabeth Gilbert
7 | “Close your eyes and imagine the best version of you possible. That’s who you really are, let go of any part of you that doesn’t believe it.”
– C Assad
8 | “Sometimes self-care is exercising and eating right. Sometimes it’s spending time with loved ones or taking a nap. And sometimes it’s watching an entire series of television in one weekend while you lounge around in your pyjamas. Whatever soothes your soul.”
Do you have a favourite quotes that helps you remember to take care of you first? Let me know in the comments.
